Court Services

Sergeant Chris Stevens is in charge of Court Services Division.  The Sheriff's Office provides security, swears warrants and serves subpoenas for the Muskegon County District, Circuit and Probate Courts.  Court Services is responsible for providing inmates for their time in court.  The division also transports inmates to the Michigan Department of Corrections.

The Sheriff's Mounted Unit is made up of 14 individuals who are trained in various law enforcement and safety procedures and are used at special events and in emergencies when requested by Sheriff's Office. The individuals and their horse are certified annually.  Firearm certifications are also done annually with the horse present.  This assures the horse will be able to handle the duties of the Deputy.

Records and Identification maintains the police and jail records for the Sheriff's Office.  In addition to their daily duties, they also provide services to the public.  Fingerprinting, viewing the sex offender list, records checks, and accident reports are all done for anyone lives within the unincorporated areas of Muskegon County.

Hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm

Pistol Inspection

Pistol safety inspections are done at the Sheriff's Office for anyone who lives within the unincorporated areas of Muskegon County.  New inspections will receive a safety lock.  The hours for requesting a purchase permit, safety inspection, or requesting a concealed weapons permit is 9:00-4:30 M-F.
